This is why many of us write - "I want our comment sections to be vibrant spaces of dialogue. Not just between you and me, but among all of us." It isn't the dollars but the community conversation.
Yes! This has been particularly valuable to me since I live in a very rural area and have few people I can have these conversations with in person. Glad to have you here Stacy.
Wonderful goals, stated clearly and succinctly, Matthew. May your third year on Substack continue to be as enriching for you and your readers as your first two.
Matthew, your work is a gift to the community, at any price. You have a generous soul. Iβve gained so much from your honest and beautiful essays, your passion for great literature, and the sharing of the work of other Substack authors through your recommendations, links, and interviews. (Honored and grateful to be featured by you.)
You are doing the right thing. All writers deserve to be compensated for their work. You put more thought and effort into yours than anyone on this platform. Sending love and gratitude.
Thank you Mary. I appreciate this encouragement. I admire you and I am a fan of your writing as you well know. Looking forward to having you featured here in the next month.
I was just sitting at the kitchen table, eating a popsicle for supper. I'm past the age where that's supposed to be a thing. My internal dialog was off and dreaming, pondering on the stories I tell myself, and sometimes write down. My thoughts came to this: "Whatever you imagined me to be, I'm more than that."
Sometimes I learn a single nugget, and take off running with it, create a person I never met. But the reality is, I can never create another person as complex as the real person who inspired that story. So I think I will try to adjust that inner dialogue, to remind myself to end every one of those stories I tell myself with another line, "And then I learned the most surprising thing about ..."
When I sat down here to read your latest, it fit perfectly into my frame of mind. I'm proud and pleased to keep learning new things about you, and to be sharing this thoughtful space.
Wonderful, Matthew! Change is refreshing, and I applaud anyone taking steps toward better alignment in their lives. Very exciting, and I hope these changes bring a new spark to your writing practice.

Iβm glad youβll be finishing the Odyssey read through but this all makes sense! I was always in awe at your output
Thanks Denise. I have run myself ragged this year! I think the new format/schedule will be more manageable and better for my mental health.
Matthew, what youβve achieved is remarkable. Your sense of purpose shines in this road map for the future.
Many thanks Rona. I appreciate your support and words of encouragement. It has been a blessing to meet so many people like you.
Happy 3! And many more
Thanks Susan! Grateful to have you here.
Iβve been kind of quiet in here this year Matthew but Iβm not going anywhere. Looking forward to year 3!
Blessed to have you as part of my community Noreen! I hope that all is well.
