Restful writing like the moon reflecting on the sea, thank you

Restful is a quality I’ve found in other writings—but not that often—so to hear it for what I wrote is special. Thanks a lot, Mandi!

(Would recommend The Poetics of Space by Gaston Bachelard if you haven’t read it. It’s the first book that I was able to describe as restful because of the themes of spaces/ daydreaming/ intimacy with the self that Bachelard was talking about)

Will look at that, thank you. We have Jeremy Hooker's work on place, space and writing. He linked back to the early rural writers, Jefferies, Edward Thomas, WH Hudson. Wales is quite a special place for immersing oneself in place and the elements. I suspect that just the act of writing introduces disturbance or turbulence

Can't borrow Jeremy Hooker's books from the library, even though a few of them are available. I'll see if I can find online versions. Also, DMing you for the rest of the comment!

What a stunning reflection on what we need to survive — and even thrive — in this digital world. A gorgeous essay.

"I am lured in by the temporal shine of information, and the world intrudes, remains."

This appears to be a phenomenon of modern living, almost unavoidable...

Your eloquence here is tangible Esha, a beautifully written essay and often deeply resonant.

Thank you.

Almost unavoidable, yes. The best we can do is keep evaluating when and how much of the world to allow in and for what purpose. Thanks for reading, Susie!

(Also, 'A hill and I' is a lovely name)

Too often it is hard to keep the world out in this time of 24 hour connectivity but I do agree.

Thank you Esha, nobody has ever mentioned the name I chose for my Substack before… saying that has made me incredibly happy, perhaps ridiculously so but it has.

This piece feels like a breath of fresh air. A timely reminder as we continue to plunge into the digital vortex. Love love love the third section, especially.

I’m revisiting this piece again today and it feels as fresh, original and profound as it did when I read it the first time. You have such a wondrous way with words, Esha. Can’t wait to read more of your words whenever you feel like sharing :)
