Congratulations to you and your family, Matthew. It’s lovely that their contribution is also recognised. Stepping away from a long career can be a bit of an emotional rollercoaster in the early days, so taking a family holiday is a wonderful idea. Best wishes for your surgery and looking forward to watching you thrive in your new career.

Great post, Matthew. Congrats on your grand career. You are an exemplar of The Two Cultures. Have you read that? I think it’s CP Snow. Will check in a sec! 💞

Quite the complement Mary. I haven't read the entire thing but I am familiar with the premise - that the sciences and humanities have diverged with little cross-pollination. The experts in both often have little understanding of the other. Having studied nuclear physics and read the complete works of Shakespeare, I have attempted to fit into that group of individuals who attempt to bridge the gap between the Two Cultures. I will be sure to find a copy of the entire lecture once I return from Italy. Thank you so much.
