Thank you for the kind words and mention of my note. I, too, find you a kindred soul. And I appreciate your meditative post. Your relationship with Lola reminds me of David Roberts and his dog Sophie. Good luck with the diet. My husband and I are on a 5-week long program also. He’s so busy that I’m glad to do anything with him—even if it’s dieting 😂
Good morning, Matt. Raising my (coffee) mug to you~I so enjoyed the Longfellow poem; thank you! YOur other reflections, especially about seeking quiet and taking a good walk, filled me up. Your wandering and pondering blessed me today.
“Take a walk. Read a book. Drink a cup of coffee. Sit and listen to the birds. Write a poem. These solitary, quiet activities provide me the foundation to go forth into the world, commune with others, and discover a life filled with paths unscripted.”
Every day. And not a mention of politics, news, social media, or screens of any kind. Appropriately so. I’m seriously considering becoming a Luddite. Or Amish.
Those words of Zina's really very good. Thank you for sharing some of mine, too. I've never been much of a coffee drinker (tea is my drug of choice), but you make the ritual sound very appealing. I don't envy you the juice diet... good luck!

My wife and I are the same. We both have busy lives and felt we needed to do something together, even if it was suffering through 28 days of juicing!
The simplest things and moments are indeed the most wonderful. Thank you Matthew. 🙏
Such an eloquent and relatable reflection on that first quiet hour of the day, just you and your addiction haha! (my addiction too!) ☕️☕️

Loved your description of making coffee. I hope your juicing goes well and you're back to drinking coffee soon.
